How important is rebar spacing and alignment?


 The spacing and alignment of rebar in a wall has a big impact on the strength, durability and maintainability of that wall. For example, placing rebar too close or too far apart can damage the concrete when compacting or adding fasteners during construction. The bottom of your concrete wall will also benefit from rebar. There are several options for using rebar in the bottom of the wall, including using fishing wire between the pieces or using a seam. Fishing lines are best if you can't find the bottom of your wall. Joints are best if you want to prevent moisture from penetrating the bottom of the wall. When reinforcing the bottom of your wall with rebar, you need to be sure not to overdo it.
